Dispatch Issue #2

News
This story was about how the Austin City Council just voted to remove the curfew of minors to relive some stress from both the minors and the officers. This new law allows minors to be out during the hours of 9am to 2pm and from 11pm to 6am. This change gives wiggle room to students with late night jobs and allows officers to focus on tougher crimes then just a night-owl teen.

2. "I don't think it's a good public safety policy to preemptively criminalize children who had no intention of committing a crime." -Ellen Toxclair

1. My favorite photo in the entire paper was the picture of the Haddad family recreating their old baby pictures.
1A. This was my favorite picture because it was creative and sweet. It was also kind of funny to see how much they've changed from when they were babies to now.

2. My least favorite picture in the entire paper was the picture of the three boys in "AG members take the bait and get hooked on this club"
2B. This is because the picture kind of cuts the teacher out and the main guy in the picture looked pretty angry.

3. If I were to be a photographer on staff, I would've really enjoyed to take pictures of Claire Meyer or the twins because they both seemed really fun and interesting to photograph.

4. Overall, I would rate the photography an 8/10 for the paper. Most of the pictures were really good, but just that one picture of the AG boys seemed a little bit like a last resort and rushed. Strong points of the photographs were that all of them were crisp and in focus, they were exposed properly, and they all had at least one clear subject. The only problem I could really find in these images would be that only one of the pictures had a merger and a very angry subject.

I think that a good topic to cover could be athletes and performers that have had recent injuries that have affected them in their hobbies or sports. Someone that could be interviewed for this could be Abbie Brien who has recently had multiple concussions in a very short period of time. I know her personally because she is on the same dance team as me and has had to sit out of classes for an extended period of time. She really wants to get back into dancing, but also doesn't want to suffer from another concussion, which could leave lasting effects.

A good commentary piece that could be written about could be the topic of colleges lowering the percent of people that get automatic admissions. This is a big issue because when my sister was in high school a few years ago it was top 7%, and the year before that it was top 10%.
